Paper Mache
Calling Kaysville and Fruit Heights child artists! Have you ever made a paper mache figure? Summer is a great time to explore this craft with instructions here. This month a new exhibit is being shown at the museum’s Kaysville City display space. Find out how really hard farmers worked to raise sugar beets in our town. Those beets were made into sugar (think of the sugar sprinkled on cookies or frozen into ice cream) at the Layton factory. Visit the display to learn more about sugar beets and then make one out of paper mache. We will add it to our display with your name as the artist! Leave your art at the reception desk with your name attached.

What a sugar beet looks like is shown below.
Don’t try to eat this like you would a regular red beet. This special variety is used to make sugar. It is light colored, cone-shaped, 1-5 pounds, 4-6 inches around the diameter, and up to 1 foot long. Wow!
